COST EFFICIENCY, SYSTEM RELIABILITY, AND EASE OF MAINTENANCE AS PREDICTORS OF ROOFTOP SOLAR PV ADOPTION INTENTION AMONG MSMES IN BEKASI

Abstract

The adoption of rooftop solar power systems among Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) has become an important issue in supporting sustainable energy transition and improving business operational efficiency. Despite the potential benefits of solar energy, the adoption level among MSMEs remains limited due to various economic and technological considerations. This study aims to analyze the influence of cost efficiency, system reliability, and ease of maintenance on the intention of MSMEs in Bekasi to adopt rooftop solar power systems. This research employs a quantitative approach involving 50 MSME owners and managers in Bekasi. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire with a five-point Likert scale and analyzed using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 25. The analysis includes validity testing, reliability testing, classical assumption testing, multiple linear regression analysis, t-test, F-test, and coefficient of determination analysis. The results indicate that cost efficiency, system reliability, and ease of maintenance have positive and significant effects on MSMEs’ intention to adopt rooftop solar power systems. Among these factors, cost efficiency demonstrates the strongest influence, followed by system reliability and ease of maintenance. The regression model explains 65.2% of the variation in adoption intention, indicating that economic and technological perceptions play an important role in shaping renewable energy adoption decisions among MSMEs. This study provides practical implications for policymakers, renewable energy providers, and MSME stakeholders to develop strategies that emphasize financial benefits, reliable technology performance, and accessible maintenance support to accelerate rooftop solar adoption.
